The London Trauma Conference 2022 took place on Tuesday 6th - Friday 9th December 2022.
We were delighted to welcome speakers and delegates from around the world for four days of presentations on the key issues in Cardiac Arrest, Trauma and Pre-hospital Care.
The first day (Tuesday 6th December) was the Cardiac Arrest Symposium Chaired by Professor Jerry Nolan, Past ERC Chair and Editor in Chief of Resuscitation.
The second day (Wednesday 7th December) was the Pre-hospital Critical Care day hosted by the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation. The important theme of major incidents started in the last session of the day and continued in the first session of the following day.
The last two days (Thursday 8th and Friday 9th December) were dedicated to Trauma. The programme covered core clinical material but also big picture talks on organisation, performance and quality improvement.
The keynote speakers are pioneers in their fields and delivered thought provoking presentations on key elements of acute care practice. They include, Professor Gavin Perkins - speaking on Resuscitation in 2022, Professor Kenji Inaba from Los Angeles – with an unusual background in trauma surgery, academia and law enforcement, Dr Kevin Fong an intensivist, air ambulance doctor and well known broadcaster who held a national role in the recent pandemic and, following a late programme alteration, Professor Karim Brohi.
To minimise unnecessary travel for short talks two excellent speaker will be joined virtually from the United States: Professor Jeffrey Upperman from Nashville, USA and Professor Andre Campbell from San Francisco, USA.
During the week a variety of hugely popular breakaway sessions took place including the Military Surgery Symposium, two half-day Ultrasound Workshops and two Lunch with the Experts sessions.
Scientific Abstracts were displayed during the event with the Stand up Science evening on Thursday presenting a chance to socialise and hear some of the researchers present in an informal environment.
Following the disruptions of the past few years we were delighted to be able to bring delegates and speakers together for a face-to-face event and they relished the opportunity to network and socialise in London. The event was not made available in hybrid or online formats.
