Breakaways 2026

A variety of breakaway sessions including the the ever engaging Stand up Science evening will take place in addition to the main conference programme. 

Further details will be announced in the coming months.

These sessions are tailor made in-line with delegate feedback to address specific clinical areas or delegate groups.
Presented by experts in their respective fields showcasing the latest thinking and techniques the breakaway sessions form a vital part of the London Trauma Conference.

Abstracts and Stand up Science

Scientific Abstracts will be  displayed during the conference. Abstract judging will take place on during the conference. 
A small number of submissions will be pre-selected for oral presentation at ‘Stand up Science’.

The Stand up Science evening  takes place on Thursday 10th following the daytime conference programme. 
It is a relatively informal event that presents delegates with the chance to socialise whilst hearing selected researchers convey the significance of the submitted work in an oral presentation.

Please note - a ticket for Stand up Science can be added to your booking booking via the 'Add-ons' option.  Pre-booking is essential.

LTC Networking Drinks Reception

Tuesday 8th December (evening event, costs apply)

Taking place at the start of the week, we will be hosting an informal drinks reception offering the opportunity for peers to catch up and network in a more casual environment away from the conference venue.
Included: Event Access 1 x drinks token and canapés / light bites.
Capacity at this event will be strictly limited and pre-booking is essential.
Venue details will be released in the coming months.
Once booking opens, the LTC Networking Drinks Reception can be added to your booking via the 'Add-ons' option.

     Emergency Last Aid

Emergency Last Aid: A calm, skilled presence at the end of a life.

ABOUT ELA
Every clinician is trained to prevent death. Almost none are taught how to respond to its arrival.
Emergency Last Aid is an education and leadership program for clinicians in pre-hospital, emergency and critical care — built from real-world experience by senior critical care clinicians. It was born from a simple belief: we should be as skilled in caring for dying patients as we are in trying to save them. 

ELA provides structured tools, communication frameworks and leadership strategies for compassionate, patient-centred care when life-extending treatment is no longer effective, and practical ways to ease the cumulative grief that comes from repeated exposure to death. Throughout the day, you’ll work through real cases with professional actors, rehearsing the hardest conversations in a safe, supported environment. When we can no longer stabilise the physiology, we stabilise the moment. 

ABOUT THE COURSE FOUNDER 
A/Prof. Matt Hooper 

Specialist in Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, Pre-Hospital & Retrieval Medicine, and Palliative Care, and founder of SA’s MedSTAR Emergency Medical Retrieval Service. Matt is passionate about preventing avoidable suffering and enhancing end-of-life outcomes in acute care settings, and leads a team of senior faculty with deep clinical experience.
